There’s common ground in LEGO Marvel and NINJAGO in 2023

There’s an odd coincidence between the LEGO Marvel and NINJAGO 2023 sets with oddly similar designs for two new models.

There must be something in the water at both the LEGO NINJAGO and Marvel design teams as two 2023 sets present identical concepts. Looking at 71783 Kai’s Mech Rider EVO and 76245 Ghost Rider Mech & Bike, there’s something you may be able to spot in both – mechs riding bikes.

Both Marvel and NINJAGO are more than a little familiar with mechs and motorbikes, but combining the two in a model is rare in each theme, and having two builds that feature a mech riding a motorbike releasing on the same day across two different design teams is an interesting coincidence.

Considering the average development time of a LEGO set and the secrecy between the LEGO Group’s design teams, it seems unlikely that this was a planned release but now, the fire-imbued Kai and Ghost Rider will both receive a new mech and motorcycle on January 1, 2023.

Those planning on purchasing both could even interchange the mechs and bikes, since the proportions of the mechs appear to be similar, using the new system for mechs introduced in the first NINJAGO Core range.

These two fire-fueled bikes with mech riders will be launching on January 1, 2023, with Kai’s Mech Rider EVO costing £39.99 / $44.99 / €44.99 and 312 pieces. Comparatively, 76245 Ghost Rider Mech & Bike costs £29.99 / $34.99 / €34.99 for 264 pieces.
