Comparing LEGO Star Wars Plo Koon minifigures between 2008, 2014, and 2025

LEGO Star Wars 75400 Plo Koon’s Jedi Starfighter Microfighter is due for release on June 1, offering a long-awaited minifigure update.

Kel Dor Jedi Master Plo Koon has only been recreated as a LEGO minifigure three times: the first in 2008’s 7676 Republic Attack Gunship (with a repeated release in 2010’s 8093 Plo Koon’s Jedi Starfighter), the second in 2014’s 75045 Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon, and now for a long-awaited update in 2025’s 75400 Plo Koon’s Jedi Starfighter Microfighter, due for release on June 1.

This year’s edition of the Jedi Master marks a distinct change from those that came before – but how did we get to this point? Let’s take a look at Plo Koon as a minifigure over the years.

2008’s 7676 Republic Attack Gunship

The first version of Plo Koon debuted a soft rubber headmold to replicate the larger headshape of a Kel Dor compared to human minifigures. While the markings and shape of the head piece go some way to recreating the uneven texture pf his skin, the proportions were quite far off from his on-screen appearance. Plo Koon has a much wider head than a human would, while his minifigure counterpart keeps to a similar width.

The mask – which is all part of the same rubbery element – is also far too wide, covering much more of the head than it did on screen. The rest of the minifigure is Jedi standard, without too much of note: plain brown legs, with a simple printed torso.

2014’s 75045 Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon

That same plain torso and legs carried through to the 2010 version, although with lighter arms to better recreate the classic tunic look that many Jedi Masters wore. However, it’s the head piece that defines any Plo Koon minifigure and there’s a new, slightly wider part here, six years on – although still not quite wide enough.

The material is still rubbery, although slightly harder than the 2008 version. The proportions of the mask stay the same, but the ridges on the sides are wider, making Plo Koon’s overall silhouette closer to what we got in the TV shows and movie. As a result, many fans at the time applauded 75045 Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon for its new and improved minifigure.

2025’s 75400 Plo Koon’s Jedi Starfighter Microfighter

Fast forward to 2025, you can see what a difference modern LEGO capabilities makes. Instead of a soft head piece, the upcoming Plo Koon minifigure has a hard, dual-moulded head, with even more accurate proportions for the head shape and mask.

Plo Koon also has printed legs for the very first time, adding to the impression of Jedi Master robes with ‘layers’ of printed robes and a tunic falling down from the torso to his knees. The colour of the arms matches the undershirt you can see at the collar, creating a unified look, rather than the almost all-brown look that he’s had up until now.

All in all, the minifigure in 75400 Plo Koon’s Jedi Starfighter Microfighter is a major upgrade – and included in a very accessible LEGO Star Wars set. It can be yours for £12.99 / $14.99 / €14.99 from June 1.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
