Comparing LEGO Forestmen minifigures new and old

LEGO gift-with-purchase 40567 Forest Hideout gives us an updated Forestman minifigure – how does it compare with the 1980s original?

Taking its inspiration from 1987’s Classic Castle sub-theme Forestmen set 6054 Forestmen’s Hideout, current gift-with-purchase at LEGO.com and in LEGO stores 40567 Forest Hideout is well and truly rooted in nostalgia, and that very much carries through to the design of the minifigures.

Two Forest people are included in 40567 Forest Hideout, both wearing a new torso design based on the original torso design from the Forestmen minifigures of the 1980s and 1990s.

Detailing and weathering has been added to the 2022 versions of the characters, as well as back printing to help really bring them up to modern standards, but their overall style and design is still very much akin to that of the outfits worn by Forestmen some 35 years ago.

It means that whilst there are discernible differences between the minifigures from 1987 and 2022, there remain enough similarities that pull them together, in much the same way that 40567 Forest Hideout offers a modern update on 6054 Forestmen’s Hideout whilst still staying true to the same thematic identity.

Whether there are more sets to come that could feature the new forest people remains to be seen and so currently they are only available as a pair in 40567 Forest Hideout, which itself has very limited availability.

40567 Forest Hideout is a gift-with-purchase available from June 15 to June 22 at LEGO.com or in LEGO stores, awarded with purchases of LEGO merchandise of £150 / $150 / €150 or more, while stocks last.

I much prefer the simplicity of the old figures. They look like something you can actually play with instead of just pose for scenes.
