Could Avatar: The Way of Water spark even more variety of LEGO minifigures in future?
LEGO Avatar already introduced long-legged Na’vi minifigures, but could the films also prompt even more variations in the future?
The second trailer for the upcoming Avatar sequel dived deeper into the story of Avatar: The Way of Water, highlighting that the ten-year gap between films means that the central characters, Jake Sully and Neytiri, have started a family together. This means there are various Na’vi children of different ages running around, as well as a pregnant Neytiri at one point in the first trailer.
While there were children in the first Avatar film, as the main characters’ offspring, these young Na’vi will surely play a more central role in the sequel, with a particular focus on 14-year-old Kiri, played by Sigourney Weaver.
The LEGO Group has played with different lengths of legs to represent children in the past, such as in the LEGO Harry Potter theme. While the adult Na’vi have longer legs than regular minifigures, there’s been no representation of younger natives from Pandora. If the theme continues with more sets, we could see more variations on the classic minifigure proportions down the line, perhaps with a new length of legs in between regular minifigures and child minifigures.
Of course, we’ll have to wait and see any future LEGO Avatar sets before we can know for sure. The upcoming wave doesn’t include any child Na’vi; here’s a reminder of what’s to come for LEGO Avatar:
