More details on rumoured LEGO Minecraft pirate ship

A brand new LEGO Minecraft pirate ship is reportedly on the way this summer, and new details suggest it will be tipping its tri-cornered hat to the theme’s previous journey on the seven seas.

21259 The Pirate Ship Voyage was among the seven sets originally reported by reliable rumour source Brick Clicker to be launching in summer 2024, coming in at the lower end of the price spectrum at just $14.99 in the US. Instagram user lego_minecraft_goat has now shared more details on what to expect from the first LEGO Minecraft pirate ship since 2019’s 21152 The Pirate Ship Adventure.

According to that source, 21259 The Pirate Ship Voyage will include a tiny pirate ship that bears a resemblance to the larger vessel in 21152 The Pirate Ship Adventure, which consists of a brown hull with a red and white striped sail. It’s said to be accompanied by a small slice of terrain, along with a squid, adult camel with saddle and two additional (unknown) minifigures.

The last minifigure-scale LEGO Minecraft sets to come in at $14.99 in the US were 21138 The Melon Farm and 21139 The Nether Fight in 2018, but given LEGO prices have shot up considerably in the past six years, those models don’t necessarily offer the best point of comparison in 2024. We also still don’t have a piece count for 21259 The Pirate Ship Voyage, so it’s tricky to imagine exactly how big its builds might be.

Suffice to say the pointed use of the word ‘tiny’ in lego_minecraft_goat’s description suggests we’re probably not looking at anything substantial. But pocket-money priced sets occupy an important slot in the wider LEGO portfolio, in this case offering something for LEGO Minecraft fans who don’t boast deep pockets (which is likely the majority of its target audience), so these sets are more than worthwhile.

Check out the full list of LEGO Minecraft sets reportedly on the way this summer – including the theme’s first 18+ model – in the table below, but remember that any still rumoured, including 21259 The Pirate Ship Voyage, should be taken with a grain of salt until officially confirmed.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
