Discover launches The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part “Not Awesome” animated advert

A new advert to promote Discover’s Late Fee Forgiveness scheme features characters from The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.

Not Awesome is a new animated advert for the Discover credit card brand, that has been developed a part of a co-promotion with The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part . The 30 second animation aims to communicate Discover’s Late Fee Forgiveness to consumers. The advert will play in cinemas as well as online, and is the first time that Discover has linked up with a major movie.

LEGO’s broad cross-generational appeal made The LEGO 2 Movie a great partnership opportunity for Discover to be culturally relevant for our consumers,” Kelly Megel, Vice President of Brand Communications at Discover, explained to Brick Fanatics.

“This our first co-branded ad campaign with a major movie, so working with an iconic brand like LEGO, and a major studio like Warner Bros., made for an exciting creative experience. It was especially fun to see one of our customer service agents come to life in the LEGO world and help remind Wyldstyle that Discover automatically waives your first late payment fee—even if you’re running from Duplo aliens,” Megel added.

There is also a 15 second version of the new television advert.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part will be released on February 8, 2019.
