Donald Glover rumoured for Hypno-Hustler Spider-Man villain movie

Following the likes of Venom and Morbius, reports of a Spider-Man villain-centric movie with Donald Glover as Hypno-Hustler have surfaced. 

Sony’s Spider-Man cinematic universe has been interesting, to say the least, with the most recent entry – Morbius – becoming well-known for the many memes that surfaced following it. The Hollywood Reporter believes that another lesser-known villain is coming to the big screen with Donald Glover potentially set to star in and produce a Hypno-Hustler Spider-Man villain film. 

Hypno-Hustler is a character that uses music to hypnotise people into doing his bidding and as such the rumoured film could be musical in some way but what genre it may focus on is unclear.

It’s being reported that Myles Murphy is set to write the project. While the Sony universe’s attachment to the MCU exists, it’s not as frequent a guest to the more expansive cinematic universe than other multiverses within the Marvel bubble. Still, Donald Glover has already featured in a Spider-Man movie thanks to a brief role in the first of Tom Holland’s films. 

Notably, the Sony Marvel movies have influenced LEGO Marvel including sets based on the characters from Venom: Let there be Carnage and a comic-inspired Morbius minifigure in 76244 Miles Morales vs. Morbius, whose inclusion seems likely to be based on Morbius’ impact on internet culture.
