First details on rumoured new LEGO NINJAGO 2025 diorama
The contents of this summer’s rumoured LEGO NINJAGO diorama have surfaced online, suggesting the theme will lean even more heavily into display-first sets in 2025.
NINJAGO toyed around with a build intended for older fans in 2024 with 71819 Dragon Stone Shrine, and the success of that set has seemingly paved the way for 71847 Guardian Dragon in 2025. Already rumoured to be some sort of diorama coming in at 1,650 pieces for $149.99, the June release is now said to consist of a ‘huge and detailed Lloyd’s dragon’, along with a small temple atop a rocky base.
That’s according to Instagram user fateful_04, who also says 71847 Guardian Dragon will include just two minifigures. While 71819 Dragon Stone Shrine is a little more minifigure-heavy, that reduced number recalls 2024’s other LEGO NINJAGO set intended for older fans, 71821 Cole’s Titan Dragon Mech – which prioritises its build by including only one character.
71847 Guardian Dragon is therefore shaping up to be a collision of both those approaches, serving up a display-first set that concentrates its budget on the build rather than the minifigures. And now we’ve seen what the NINJAGO team is capable of with slightly more advanced techniques and a bigger budget for its mechs and a shrine, it’ll be very interesting to see what comes of a $150 dragon.
Of course, those dragon fans playing along at home will know that 2025 is already proving to be a great year for fire-breathing beasts thanks to LEGO Creator 3-in-1’s 31161 Medieval Dragon. That set includes only 715 pieces – less than half the rumoured piece count for 71487 Guardian Dragon – and has arguably managed to create one of the best LEGO dragons of all time, so the potential for this NINJAGO set is sky-high.
That’s if it arrives as rumoured in June. We’ll likely be waiting a few months yet to find out for sure…
