First look at LEGO Super Mario Character Packs Series 2

One lucky LEGO fan has found a complete box of LEGO Super Mario 71386 Character Packs – Series 2 at a US department store.

The new series follows on from summer 2020’s 71361 Character Packs, offering a quick way to stock up on bite-size Super Mario baddies. The original assortment consisted of iconic characters including Bullet Bill, Bob-omb and Blooper. The new range branches out to more of Mario’s many nemeses, including Spiny Cheep Cheep, Fly Guy and Bone Goomba.

YouTuber just2good spotted the new buildable characters at Kohl’s, and proceeded to take home the entire case. There are 20 blind bags per box, with 10 new characters to collect in total.

The YouTuber has since uploaded an unboxing (and unpacking) video to his channel, giving us a better look at the new assortment of colourful characters. There is one downside to buying them early, though: some of the barcodes aren’t active yet, so the digital Mario figure can’t interact with them all just yet.

The LEGO Super Mario theme is about to expand in a big way, with 71380 Master Your Adventure Maker Setthree new expansion packs, and two new Power-Up Packs all on the way in January 2021.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
