42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car and 42130 BMW M 1000 RR are already out of stock here, but since they’re fairly recent releases, they may reappear before too long. You can also sign up for email notifications when they come back in stock; visit their respective product pages to do so.

1 – 42131 App-Controlled Cat D11 Bulldozer

The LEGO Group has often made construction vehicles for the Technic range, but 42131 App-Controlled Cat D11 Bulldozer is ahead of the pack. Using almost 4,000 pieces (including a new caterpillar track element) the bulldozer uses a number of electronic components to bring its functions to life. In addition to driving it around your living room, you can remotely raise and lower its blade, rear ripper and access ladder.

This large size and array of functions makes it one of the most expensive LEGO Technic sets ever. As such, any discount is very welcome. It’s currently available from John Lewis for £319.99 – a saving of £80 on the full price.

2 – 42124 Off-Road Buggy

If you fancy a remote-control Technic model (at a cheaper price) this one might be a better fit. 42124 Off-Road Buggy uses the same Control+ app as 42131 App-Controlled Cat D11 Bulldozer, but allows you to build a zippy off-road racer instead.

While it might not be suited for true off-road activity, this set features working suspension and a vibrant pink, blue and yellow colour scheme. It reportedly draws inspiration from RC toys of the 1980s, making it a great choice for both the young and the young at heart. At £91.99, buyers can currently save £23 on the RRP.

3 – 42127 The Batman – Batmobile

LEGO and Batman have gone hand in hand for several years, but we’ve never seen a Batman set like this. Drawing inspiration from the 2022 Robert Pattinson movie, 42127 The Batman – Batmobile is the first Batman Technic set.

Capturing the more realistic, scratch-built look of the movie’s Batmobile, this set boasts a classic black colour scheme and an intricate rear engine assembly. It also features the iconic blue flame highlights and glowing engine (achieved via a light brick) that help this vehicle stand out.

John Lewis are currently selling this set for £71.99, allowing you to save £18 on the regular price. With many other Batman sets due to retire this year, now is an ideal time to add it to your collection.

4 – 42139 All-Terrain Vehicle

Looking for something off the beaten track instead? 42139 All-Terrain Vehicle might be just what you’re looking for. It depicts a six-wheeled ATV with a rear-mounted cargo bed, and a quartet of brick-built logs to store in it. The cargo bed can be tipped upright to dump its contents, and a front-mounted winch offers additional play features. There’s even a brick-built chainsaw to ‘cut’ up the wood afterwards.

While it’s one of the more reasonably-priced Technic sets, we all appreciate a discount. It’s currently available for £51.99 – a reduction of £12, with free delivery included as well.

5 – 42137 Formula E Porsche 99X Electric

Want to hit the imaginary race track? This slick racing car is an excellent choice. 42137 Formula E Porsche 99X Electric is one of the smaller sets in the Technic lineup, but features an intricate construction and several branded stickers. A pair of pull-back motors allow you to hit high speeds very easily, and it’s compatible with the LEGO Technic AR app as well.

John Lewis is selling this set for £35.99 – a £9 discount on the regular sale price. Buying this set on its own will incur a small delivery charge, but – if this list is any indication – hitting the £50 threshold won’t be too difficult.
