Full size LEGO Renault R.S.17 coming up for auction

A very rare opportunity for someone with deep pockets to own a full size LEGO Renault R.S.17 is coming up, with the model selling as part of a charity auction.

What may be the ultimate LEGO display piece is coming up for the auction, with a full size LEGO Renault R.S.17 set to be available to the highest bidder – and absentee bids are possible. Proceeds will go to UNICEF, Motorsport Week reports. The real car raced in the 2017 Formula 1 season, with this LEGO version constructed using 313,000 pieces, four Pirelli tyres and a replica steering wheel.

The model was built for a promotional team up between the Renault F1 Team and the LEGO Group, first revealed in 2017 at L’Atelier Renault, a store on the Champs-Elysees, before touring during the 2018-2019 season. It is projected to sell for between €30,000 and €50,000.

Bidding will take place on February 10, with upscaled brick built LEGO minifigure drivers also due to be auctioned off.
