Mysterious Ghostbusters logo possibly teases chilling Afterlife sequel

A strange new Ghostbusters logo has appeared for Ghostbusters Day, potentially teasing something chilling for the upcoming Afterlife sequel.

Revealed on Twitter on Ghostbusters Day, June 8, the iconic Ghostbusters logo is covered in ice with icicles pointed towards the top right. It appears that something has blasted the logo, possibly with supernatural energy.

Nothing has been shared alongside the image, but the presence of the Columbia Pictures branding towards the bottom of the poster suggests that this could be related to the upcoming sequel.

With no context, the director of the upcoming movie Jason Reitman also shared the logo on Instagram, giving the idea that this could be related to the Afterlife sequel some credence.

The ice-covered logo also matches the winter release date, though it might not make quite as much sense for those watching in Australia.

Recent news for the sequel includes the casting of Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster and Emily Alyn Lind. At present, the movie is scheduled to release on December 20, 2023, so we may start seeing more reveals as we near the end of the year. Ghostbusters: Afterlife saw one corresponding LEGO set in the form of 10274 Ghostbusters ECTO-1.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
