Giant LEGO games console appears at French trade show

The range of LEGO games consoles has expanded with a giant LEGO Xbox, although this one may not make it to store shelves.

Wednesday November 2 marks the beginning of Paris Games Week, a French trade show dedicated to video games. The COVID-19 pandemic meant that the show has been cancelled for the last three years, but it is running this year from November 2 to November 6. A number of video games have a presence at the show, including multiplayer title LEGO Brawls – which debuted on games consoles back in August. 

Of slightly more interest here, though, is the reported presence of a giant, brick-built sculpture of an Xbox Series S. Released in 2020, it is the fourth generation of Xbox hardware and host to game series such as Halo and Forza. Now it is also the subject of a giant LEGO model, if Reddit user Chteupnin is to be believed.

The sculpture models both the console and its iconic Xbox controller, although (since the former is essentially just a cuboid) it’s not the most complex LEGO model ever created. However, it does include the relevant ports on its back end – and includes an actual Xbox Series S for comparison. Some green circuitry can even be seen on the interior.

A giant LEGO Xbox makes sense when we consider that Minecraft (currently owned by Xbox maker Microsoft) has had a healthy presence in the LEGO lineup for several years. Xbox console exclusive Forza Horizon 4 has also featured a piece of DLC that unlocks cars from the LEGO Speed Champions line, giving fans of the LEGO Racers game series something new to sink their teeth into. 

Sadly, a consumer-level LEGO Xbox seems like a remote possibility at this time. However, if you are looking for a LEGO games console to build, you may find a set like 10306 Atari 2600 enticing.
