How to army build for LEGO Star Wars for less

Army building in LEGO Star Wars can be a pricey hobby – but it doesn’t have to be, thanks to some of these cherry-picked LEGO Star Wars deals.

For large-scale LEGO Star Wars display or play sessions, you need a sizable number of minifigures. Recreating epic battles from movies and TV shows, from the Battle of Geonosis to countless Clone Wars clashes, requires dozens of minifigures if you want to make a major impression – and they need to be designed and equipped for battle to have that extra finishing touch.

Luckily, the LEGO Group has released various battle packs and specially designed sets to fulfil this need over the years. Some particular favourites include the 2024 release 75372 Clone Trooper & Battle Droid Battle Pack (complete with a redesigned octuptarra combat tri-droid and an impressive line-up of four Clone Trooper minifigures and five battle droid characters), 75345 501st Clone Troopers Battle Pack (featuring new-for-2023 designs on the ever-popular 501st minifigures), and 75337 AT-TE Walker, the largest of all the three with a massive main build.

While 75337 AT-TE Walker packs a lot in, with over 1,000 pieces to make up its enormous brick-built AT-TE, to build up sizable armies for truly sprawling LEGO Star Wars displays, you really need to buy multiple copies of these sets. Most of the time (aside from a Commander Cody minifigure in 75337 AT-TE Walker), such battle packs don’t include named characters, so you can expand your clone and droid armies without doubling up on characters. Even in the case of Cody, you can pretty easily swap out his helmet and torso, or simply have a number of other commanders take to the field.

To help make doubling up on sets easier, we’ve gathered together some LEGO Star Wars deals to save you money when building up your brick-built army. While Darth Sidious may have funded Sifo-Dyas’s army of clone troopers, deals like these are welcome for those of us without the same deep Sith pockets. Check out the deal cards below to see some of the money-saving deals on 75372 Clone Trooper & Battle Droid Battle Pack, 75345 501st Clone Troopers Battle Pack, and 75337 AT-TE Walker.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
