The Imperial Star Destroyer first appears in the opening scenes of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, and has gone on to become a symbol of Imperial might in the Star Wars franchise. With its sleek hull, array of weapons and massive size, Star Destroyers strike fear into any member of the Rebel Alliance.

The LEGO Group has produced several models of this ship over the years, but 75252 Imperial Star Destroyer is amongst the most impressive. Released in the Ultimate Collector Series in 2019, it measures 110cm long and 66cm wide. The exterior is highly faithful to the source material, offering subtle asymmetry, turbolaser turrets, a trio of engines and even a large reactor dome on the underside.

Like most LEGO Star Wars ships of this size, interior detail is relatively limited. However, you can access the hangar bay – which includes a solitary TIE fighter that’s waiting for deployment. A tiny model of the Tantive IV is also available in this set, and can be positioned within the Star Destroyer or alongside it for a better sense of scale.

This Star Destroyer includes a display stand (complete with the usual information plaque) and a pair of Imperial minifigures. These offer sophisticated details like dual-moulded legs and arm printing, making them a worthy addition to a set of this scale.
