Last chance for double VIP points on two LEGO CITY sets

Time is almost up to score double VIP points on two LEGO CITY sets, including last summer’s flagship 60271 Main Square.

Listed on LEGO.com as ‘hard to find’, the sprawling, 1,517-piece LEGO City Adventures set is otherwise exclusive to Argos in the UK. And given it’s still full price at that third-party retailer, an effective 10% discount by way of double VIP points (in the form of cashback to spend on future purchases and exclusive rewards) could be as good as it gets.

Alongside a city hall, diner and concert stage, 60271 Main Square includes a motorbike, limo, tram, ride-on tractor and 14 minifigures. Retailing at £169.99 in the UK, picking it up before July 31 will net you a total of 2,720 VIP points, equivalent to £17 in vouchers to put towards subsequent sets.

The other LEGO CITY set doing double-VIP duty this month is the more modestly-priced 60282 Fire Command Unit, which bundles in 380 pieces for £49.99. That’s a pretty steep price-per-part ratio, making double VIP points a more tempting way to add it to your own collection (or, perhaps more likely, buy it as a gift for a younger LEGO fan in your life).

Expect to see two more sets given the double VIP treatment in August, as has been the norm for many months at LEGO.com now. You’ve got until Saturday, July 31 to make the most of the deal on 60271 Main Square and 60282 Fire Command Unit.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
