LEGO Icons 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System officially revealed

Following its premature debut in a LEGO Store last week, the LEGO Group has finally pulled back the curtain on LEGO Icons 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System.

Scheduled for launch later this month, the latest LEGO Icons set taps into the wider cross-theme LEGO Space initiative going on in 2024, and hits shelves on the same day as the newly-revealed 31212 The Milky Way. That’s May 15 for LEGO Insiders and May 18 for everyone else, coming in at £219.99 in the UK, $259.99 in the US and €259.99 in Europe for 3,601 pieces.

10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System’s multi-stage rocket – with two solid-fuel boosters – is accompanied by a mobile launch tower that incorporates retractable umbilicals, a crew bridge and rocket support. They’re joined by a tiny model of the Orion spacecraft, which can be displayed separately or placed inside the rocket thanks to its folding solar panels.

There’s also a printed info plaque, matching the style of the one in 2021’s 10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery, which is still available at LEGO.com. The model is designed to commemorate the Artemis space program, which seeks to send humans back to the Moon while preparing for human missions to Mars.

The rocket and launchpad included in 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System together weigh in at a remarkable 70cm tall, 27cm wide and 30cm deep. That means the tower isn’t quite to scale with 2017’s 21309 NASA Apollo Saturn V, which clocks in at just over 100cm tall, but it should still hold its own on display next to the LEGO Group’s previous supersized space rocket.

You’ll be able to buy your copy of 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System from LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores from May 15 if you’re part of the LEGO Insiders program.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
