LEGO 40370 Train briefly pops up on LEGO.com, instantly sells out

LEGO 40370 Train has briefly popped up on LEGO.com in the US, before almost instantly selling out.

The 40th anniversary set was originally available as a gift with purchase for fans spending at least £100 / $100 in February this year. But it’s now made a fleeting appearance on LEGO.com in the US, where it was available to buy for $19.99.

Unfortunately, you needed to be quick to grab the 188-piece ode to 1980’s 7810 Push-Along Steam Engine. The set was clearly available in limited quantities, because it’s already sold out. But if you do want a copy, don’t fret: it’s not going for extravagant amounts on the aftermarket.

In fact, the reimagined classic can be had for roughly the price it was going for on LEGO.com. You won’t earn VIP points, of course, but it’s nice to know the option is there if you missed out back in February. If you want to know more about this one-time freebie, check out our in-depth review.

40370 Train isn’t the only previous gift-with-purchase the LEGO Group has listed on LEGO.com today. The LEGO Star Wars Han Solo in Carbonite metal keychain is still available in the VIP Rewards Centre, where it can be bought for 950 points (roughly £5.94 in VIP Rewards Vouchers).

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
