LEGO Creator 40651 Australia Postcard revealed online

A fifth buildable LEGO Creator postcard has popped up at the official online store, taking the series down under with 40651 Australia Postcard.

Joining 40519 New York Postcard, 40654 Beijing Postcard, 40568 Paris Postcard and 40569 London Postcard – all of which are currently out of stock at LEGO.com in the UK and Europe – the Australian variant follows the same format as its companions, offering a brick-built snapshot of life in the outback.

That means iconic visuals like a eucalyptus tree, cockatoo, kangaroo road sign and, erm, a shed, built in three dimensions with a blue-sky backdrop. As per the other postcards, it’s fronted with a stickered tile bearing the name of the location, which here focuses on an entire country rather than a single city. We’re not sure what that says about the LEGO Group’s perception of Australia.

40651 Australia Postcard will be available from January 1, 2023 for £13.49 / $14.99 / €14.99. It’s one of dozens of LEGO sets already revealed for next year, although it surely won’t be the last – we’re still waiting to see what’s coming from the likes of LEGO Icons, Star Wars and Art (if anything) in 2023.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
