LEGO Star Trek 40768 Type-15 Shuttlepod is quite possibly the best gift-with-purchase of the year from the LEGO Group.
That’s no small statement, but it comes from just how enticing and interesting this GWP is to build and play with, and for how well it couples with the set to which it’s promotionally linked.

This play-based gift-with-purchase is an excellent add-on to that display-orientated set, for just how detailed and intelligent its design is, and for how it offers up a secondary use for the entire roster of minifigures included in 10356, who are otherwise relatively redundant beyond standing on that long display base in front of the Enterprise. Now they have something to travel in for ventures down to mysterious planets.
I can’t go into the specifics beyond that of what the Shuttlepod is or how accurate it truly is to the source material, except to say that a quick glance at the ship from the show suggests it is moderately-scaled and very nicely shaped.

Coupled with the included minifigure for Ensign Ro Laren, even for someone with barely a passing understanding of the Star Trek franchise, I find myself drawn in to 40768 Type-15 Shuttlepod and seriously considering 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D when it releases on Black Friday.
