LEGO Harry Potter 76422 Diagon Alley: Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes revealed

This summer’s second LEGO Harry Potter set to be revealed is 76422 Diagon Alley: Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, which transfigures an existing direct-to-consumer model into a smaller playset.

Coming in at roughly half the part count of the orange and purple storefront in 75978 Diagon Alley, 76422 Diagon Alley: Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes – which has been revealed by a Mexican LEGO Certified Store – includes both the magical joke shop and an accompanying Owl Post Office, all within 834 pieces. It now joins the previously-revealed 76421 Dobby the House-Elf in this summer’s Wizarding World line-up.

There are seven minifigures in the box, including Ron Weasley, Ginny Weasley, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Lavender Brown, Romilda Vane and an Owl Post Worker. (Note: no Harry!) The exterior of the build resembles the approach taken in 75978 Diagon Alley, only on a reduced scale, while the interior is still packed with plenty of details for the price.

Exactly what that price will be in the UK, US and Europe has yet to be confirmed, but the Mexican Certified Store responsible for these images has it listed at $2,299 Mexican pesos. That’s the same RRP as 76388 Hogsmeade Village Visit, so we could be looking at roughly £79.99 / $89.99 / €89.99 in international territories.

The prefixed set name also suggests this could be just the first in a series of smaller Diagon Alley buildings from the LEGO Harry Potter theme, following years of modular Hogwarts models. For now, expect 76422 Diagon Alley: Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes to arrive on shelves in June.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
