LEGO Animal Crossing officially confirmed

The LEGO Group’s partnership with Nintendo is expanding beyond the Mushroom Kingdom as an Animal Crossing theme has been announced.

LEGO Animal Crossing is happening, believe it or not. After years of rejected LEGO Ideas projects and a promising partnership with Nintendo for LEGO Super Mario, a trailer shared by Nintendo has officially revealed the first Animal Crossing minifigures.

Animal Crossing is a game franchise from Nintendo which sees players performing simple, relaxing tasks, most recently on a highly-customisable island. Suffice to say, it’s a good match for LEGO sets.

The unique proportions of Animal Crossing characters have been captured as minifigures with specialised heads and a new element for the base of a tree.

As well as an array of villagers, Isabelle, Tom Nook and Kapp’n are featured in the trailer, confirming them for future sets. All of the characters, from left to right, are Rosie, Bunnie, Marshal, Kapp’n, Fauna, Julian, Isabelle and Tom Nook.

The LEGO sets could include everything from houses to shops and some vehicles that have been featured in the series such as a bus, train, boat and seaplane.

At the time of writing, no sets have been announced but with minifigures in the trailer, it appears that a full LEGO Animal Crossing theme is coming, likely next year unless there’s going to be a surprise release at the end of 2023.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
