Seven LEGO August 2025 sets that could sell out on day one
The very best and most popular LEGO sets are often prone to selling out on day one, so here are seven to target on August 1 if you don’t want to wait for them on back order…
While it’s absolutely worth waiting for discounts on some LEGO sets (here’s looking at you, the vast majority of the summer 2025 Star Wars range), there are plenty that offer enough in the box to make for a tempting day-one purchase. That’s true too of some of the 80-something sets launching worldwide on August 1, among which are stand-outs from Marvel, One Piece, Icons and more.
With that in mind, here are seven sets we reckon could go on back order – or even temporarily sell out – on day one at LEGO.com, so should be top of your shopping list if you want to get your hands on them as soon as possible.
75639 The Going Merry Pirate Ship

LEGO One Piece’s flagship set is technically 75640 The Baratie Floating Restaurant, but the one most people will be aiming for on day one is easily 75639 The Going Merry Pirate Ship. It’s more affordable, still includes all five members of the Straw Hat crew, and is an increasingly rare example of a new LEGO pirate ship. Its initial pre-order allocation sold out pretty much instantly, so we’re expecting it to go on back order pretty quickly on Friday.
10358 Transformers: Soundwave

Not every LEGO Icons set sells out on day one, but 10358 Transformers: Soundwave has a lot going in its favour. It’s not eligible for pre-orders, with early access for LEGO Insiders beginning August 1, so there will be plenty of people itching to pull the trigger. It’s reasonably priced to say it includes a sound brick. And it has a pre-installed fanbase as the third LEGO Transformers set following Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. That’s a perfect storm for a back-ordered set…
76321 Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock Subway Train Scene

LEGO Marvel is cooking up some pretty solid Spider-Man sets for summer 2025, but top of the list for many people will be the first model based on a Sam Raimi Spidey film in more than two decades. 76321 Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock Subway Train Scene includes four main characters from 2004’s Spider-Man 2 and the necessary pieces to recreate one of its most iconic scenes (minus train track), so is sure to be popular on August 1.
75433 Jango Fett’s Starship

It’s hard to find many LEGO Star Wars August 2025 sets worth paying full price for on day one, but 75433 Jango Fett’s Starship is probably in the mix for a lot of people. It’s a more affordable version of this year’s May the 4th UCS set 75409 Jango Fett’s Starship, includes an exclusive Lama Su minifigure and from a price-per-piece perspective isn’t unreasonable. Star Wars fans wanting a new set fix are likelier to aim for this over the new battle pack, Turbo Tank or MTT, anyway…
75636 Windmill Village Hut

While the Going Merry will be high on many One Piece fans’ wishlists, those with a slightly smaller budget – or anyone just wanting a taste of this theme – will probably be gunning for entry-level set 75636 Windmill Village Hut on day one. This is another LEGO One Piece set that offers very good value at full price, along with three exclusive minifigures, so we’re pretty confident initial stock will run dry quite quickly.
10373 Mini Bonsai Trees

The LEGO Group has long been on to a winner with its Botanicals range, and of the two new additions coming this August 10373 Mini Bonsai Trees feels like a safer bet to sell out day one. The consistent popularity of 2021’s 10281 Bonsai Tree, which is still available four years on, speaks to the wider appreciation for this type of plant – and their size makes them a solid pick for adding to minifigure-scale displays too. A decent all-rounder for August 1, then.
31168 Medieval Horse Knight Castle

You only need to look at how quickly LEGO Castle-adjacent sets have sold out in each round of the BrickLink Designer Program to know that LEGO Creator 3-in-1’s new 31168 Medieval Horse Knight Castle will find its way into more than a few collections come August 1. It might not sell out altogether (i.e. move to ‘temporarily out of stock’ status at LEGO.com), but there’s a good chance it will hit back order within a few days of release.
