TT Games shared early LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight gameplay footage during last night’s Gamescom Opening Night Live show, offering a glimpse at the game beyond the initial trailer.
If you weren’t able to tune in to Gamescom’s live show on YouTube last night, you’ll have missed the full presentation of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, TT Games’ latest take on the Caped Crusader. As well as the initial trailer widely shared online, the developers showed off further gameplay footage from the 2026 release – and you can now check it out courtesy of YouTube channel GamersPrey.
The short clip starts with Batman taking down waves of red-hooded goons, demonstrating the game’s new combat system, which looks to take heavy inspiration from Rocksteady’s Arkham series. Successful combos result in animated takedowns, while comic book-style ‘THUNK’, ‘THUDD’ and ‘WHACK’ letters appear on the final blow.
A couple of clips from the main trailer are then followed by a preview of what looks to be a boss battle with a supersized henchman, which requires Batman to dive out of the way at a specific moment to defeat the charging bigfig. This segment also gives us a glimpse at Jim Gordon as a second playable character in local co-operative mode.
We then see the Dark Knight use his grapple gun to reach a vantage point high above other baddies, before swooping down and taking them by surprise. Studs litter the area as they fall to Batman’s superior punching skills, suggesting LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight won’t be straying too far from the familiar TT Games formula in any regard. (A stud counter is also visible top-right of the screen throughout much of the footage.)
We’ll hopefully see more gameplay footage and reactions emerge from the show floor at Gamescom over the next day or two, but for now don’t forget to check out the full reveal trailer if you haven’t already.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight debuts in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Find out more info on the game here.
