WATCH: The LEGO Boba Fett Microfighter looks delightfully retro

The newly-revealed 75344 Boba Fett’s Starship Microfighter is bringing back memories of a very retro LEGO Star Wars set.

LEGO Star Wars has been around for a long time. Not quite as long as fervent Star Wars fans, but longer than the concept of Boba Fett being a clone. (That’s a pretty big window, we know.) And in that time, the design capabilities of Billund’s brightest have advanced astronomically, making those earliest sets – released in 1999 – look absolutely amateurish by comparison.

But for those of us who were around when those models originally landed on shelves, it’s hard to ignore the lure of deep-rooted nostalgia. And that’s exactly what 75344 Boba Fett’s Starship Microfighter – officially unveiled today, and launching in January 2023 – invokes in LEGO Star Wars fans of a certain age. Check out our latest YouTube video to see exactly why this entry-level set is pulling on our nostalgia strings.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
