A platform crucial to the start of the online LEGO community is shutting down after 25 years, leaving you with little time to archive anything important.
Kevin Loch founded Brickshelf in 1999 as a space for adult fans of LEGO (AFOLs) to share pictures of their creations and collections, proving to be crucial to the early days of the online LEGO community. Now after 25 years, the website is being shut down, including all Brickshelf domains.
Before letting you through to the homepage of Brickshelf, a new notice on the website states that the Kevin M Loch Estate will be shutting down Kevin's websites soon following the passing of Kevin Loch last year. The exact date of the shutdown is stated to be on or around March 1.
Preceding this announcement in anticipation of a shutdown, members of the online community is seeking to archive the images hosted on the website while they still can, but the current method only works for public folders.
Creating new accounts has been disabled for some time but the website still functions at the time of writing, with only a couple more months to enjoy this historic platform that has been important to the LEGO community's growth over the decades.
