LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 21 vignettes – Paddle Surfer

We’re going surfing in our latest LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71029 Series 21 vignette, which features a splash of sea life both above and below the surface.

The latest batch of blind-bagged characters is the 21st regular series to hit shelves, but the LEGO Group isn’t out of ideas just yet – despite the reduction from 16 to 12 minifigures.

It has had to turn to slightly more obscure source material, though, as with this series’ Paddle Surfer. But even then, maybe it’s just ahead of the curve: the water sport of stand-up paddle boarding has apparently exploded in popularity in recent years, so it’s perhaps not as obscure as it might seem.

Paddle Surfer

Placing the Paddle Surfer on a stretch of ocean would have been pretty basic, so we’ve turned to the LEGO Group’s growing collection of sea creatures to breathe some life into this vignette – along with a loving hat-tip to a classic LEGO theme in our poor undersea pirate captain. Perhaps our favourite detail in this build, though, is the use of trans-blue Super Heroes power blast elements to recreate splashing water above the surface.
