LEGO confirms retiring dates for hundreds of sets – Star Wars, Ideas and more

The LEGO Group has added hundreds of new sets to the ‘retiring soon’ section of its online store, confirming the imminent departure of products from Star Wars, Ideas, Icons and more.

A total of 340 sets are currently listed under the ‘last chance’ tab at LEGO.com in the UK, which means time is short to grab them before they’re gone. Any of the models with that tag could feasibly sell out for good at any point between now and the end of the year – so while you could wait for Black Friday for deals and offers on retiring sets (and those will undoubtedly come), it’s probably best not to save everything for November.

Heavy hitters leaving shelves at the end of 2023 include 21325 Medieval Blacksmith, 10278 Police Station, 75309 Republic Gunship, 10276 Colosseum and 10497 Galaxy Explorer. You’ll also find all of these sets (and more!) listed in our complete guide to which LEGO sets are retiring when, from 2023 through to 2026 and beyond. For now, here’s a selection of sets you won’t want to miss from those now confirmed to retire this year.

Head over to LEGO.com and navigate to ‘Last chance to buy’ (under the Shop tab) to check out the full roster of LEGO sets retiring in 2023. While some of them have been on shelves for several years – like 10255 Assembly Square and 10266 NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander – others are departing after only a few months in production, including 76255 The New Guardians’ Ship and 40646 Daffodils.

Only 96 sets are currently listed as ‘retiring soon’ at LEGO.com in the US, but those that are tagged are much the same as in the UK – and sets generally tend to retire globally at the same time, so the UK site is the one to check out no matter where you are in the world.

We’re bound to see deals on some of these sets in the run up to and during both LEGO Insiders Weekend (formerly LEGO VIP Weekend) and Black Friday, but predicting which ones will still be available by then would require a crystal ball. If any of them are on your must-buy list, now’s the time to strike. (Bonus: some are on sale right now!)

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
