LEGO Disney 100th Anniversary Collectible Minifigures revealed

The next wave of LEGO Collectible Minifigures will celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary, introducing a bumper assortment of characters from across the company’s history.

From Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Cruella de Vil to Pocahontas and Coco’s Miguel, the 18 different minifigures in 71038 Disney 100 – that’s six more than usual – span a century’s worth of Disney icons. This is the third series of Disney Collectible Minifigures, and that means we’re getting into ever-more-obscure territory.

There are still plenty of household names in the mix, like Sleeping Beauty and Pinnochio, but fewer fans will likely be instantly familiar with Tiana and Dr. Facilier from 2009’s The Princess and the Frog. The same might also be said for Robin Hood and Prince John, both of whom are represented as animal characters from the 1973 animated film Robin Hood.

One thing’s for sure: these deep cuts will delight Disney enthusiasts when the new series arrives on shelves on May 1, priced at £3.49 / $4.99 / €3.99 per blind bag. There’s also a good chance this will be the last Collectible Minifigures series released in bags before the move to more sustainable blind boxes, which is currently pencilled in for September 2023.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
