LEGO Disney 43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage officially revealed

Magic mirror on the wall, which is the newest LEGO Disney set of them all? 43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage, which is coming to shelves in March for LEGO Insiders.

The LEGO Group has now officially unveiled the 2,228-piece set following initial images appearing on the LEGO Kids site earlier today. It’s based on the original 1937 animated movie and packs 10 characters into the box: Snow White, the Prince, the Evil Queen and all seven dwarfs, including Doc, Grumpy, Sleepy, Happy, Bashful, Sneezy and Dopey. They’re accompanied by the forest cottage, a wishing well and the glass box in which Snow White was entombed.

The colourful cottage sits two storeys high and boasts a full interior, complete with a bedroom with seven beds, a pipe organ, baking table, fireplace, attic space and more. The back of the model is open for better access, and you can even swing the hinged building in two for a complete view of its detailed internals. It sits 20cm tall, 20cm deep and 35cm wide.

Curiously, the press release for 43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage states that the 18+ set will be available exclusively to LEGO Insiders for three months from March 1, before going on sale to non-Insiders from June 1. That’s an unprecedented duration for Insiders early access (and even VIP early access before it), suggesting the LEGO Group is cooking up new ways to incentivise non-members to join.

Update: The LEGO.com listing for the set says it’s available from March 4, 2024, with Insiders early access from March 1 to 3. That’s consistent with previous releases, so feels like the most realistic scenario at this stage.

43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage will be available at some point in March for £189.99 in the UK, $219.99 in the US and €219.99 in Europe.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
