LEGO Harry Potter sets you need before 76417 Gringotts

LEGO Harry Potter’s massive 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition is launching soon, but you’ll want a few sets before you build it.

76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition is undoubtedly exciting and many Wizarding World enthusiasts are likely on the edge of their seats waiting for the latest huge LEGO Harry Potter model. However, be advised that there are some sets that will pair excellently with the upcoming build, available for £369.99 / $429.99 / €429.99 on September 1 for LEGO Insiders or September 4 for everyone.

You may not have considered some of these sets, as they include a couple with minifigures that have a vault at Gringotts, for realistic scenes that – though never seen in the films likely took place beyond the screen.

Here are a few LEGO Harry Potter sets you need to add to your collection before you buy 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition.

Diagon Alley

The reveal of 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition made it clear that 75978 Diagon Alley is designed to be compatible with the top level of the new set. It’s the clearest contender for a matching model to 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition. Given that Gringotts is located within Diagon Alley, it’s a perfect match. However, at £389.99 / $449.99 / €449.99 it’s not going to be within everyone’s budget, especially after buying the 2023 build.

Those looking for a slice of Diagon Alley at a more affordable cost might be better off with 76422 Diagon Alley: Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes for an equally iconic part of the street to display next to 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition, despite it not being compatible with it. This smaller model is £84.99 / $89.99 / €94.99.

76408 12 Grimmauld Place

Price: £114.99 / $119.99 / €129.99 Pieces: 1,083 Minifigures: 9

While there are a couple of sets that include a Sirius Black minifigure, we can’t imagine the character going to inspect his vault in prison garb. Thankfully, 76408 12 Grimmauld Place includes a version of the character in more formal attire, ideal for a trip to Gringotts.

Adding this minifigure to 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition is an astutely relevant decision to play out your own scenes within the Wizarding World of Sirius heading to vault 711. 76408 12 Grimmauld Place is available now for £114.99 / $119.99 / €129.99.

76415 The Battle of Hogwarts

Price: £74.99 / $79.99 / €84.99 Pieces: 730 Minifigures: 6

Similar to Sirius, Bellatrix Lestrange is only currently available in 76415 The Battle of Hogwarts but the character also has a vault, or rather the Lestrange family does, at Gringottss

Given the importance of this vault in the films, it’s no surprise that a Bellatrix Lestrange minifigure is included in 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition, but only in the form of a disguised Hermione. A second minifigure of the character could see them meeting, much to Hermione’s dismay. It can be yours as part of 76415 The Battle of Hogwarts for £74.99 / $79.99 / €84.99.

76420 Triwizard Tournament: The Black Lake

Price: £39.99 / $44.99 / €44.99 Pieces: 349 Minifigures: 5

You might not immediately think of 76420 Triwizard Tournament: The Black Lake when you see 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition, but the two share a concept that has not been commonly explored in LEGO sets.

Both models are multi-level builds showing a world above and beneath a surface. In 76420 Triwizard Tournament: The Black Lake, that’s under the water and in 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition, it’s underground. Together, the two should look unique on display and the smaller model can be yours for only £39.99 / $44.99 / €44.99.
