LEGO Icons 10334 Retro Radio officially revealed

The LEGO Group is turning back the clock once again this summer with 10334 Retro Radio, a brand new LEGO Icons set that features the second sound brick of 2024.

Following on from 76429 Talking Sorting Hat back in March, 10334 Retro Radio is the second 2024 set to take advantage of the resurgent sound brick. But where that LEGO Harry Potter set was full of movie quotes to sort new Hogwarts students into their houses, this 906-piece model will apparently feature a variety of pre-recorded sounds that mimic a real-life radio.

You’ll be able to simulate switching between stations by turning a dial on the front of the finished model, just like the real thing, although presumably it will just trigger random clips from the sound brick (rather than always playing the same sound when tuned to a particular frequency). That’s not the only way you can make some noise with 10334 Retro Radio, though.

Just like February’s 21347 Red London Telephone Box, the LEGO Icons model can accommodate a smartphone, this time concealed inside the radio by way of a removable rear panel. If your phone has an even vaguely-decent speaker, it’ll be a fun way to recreate the experience of an actual radio – and given the relative lack of visible studs on the model, you might just fool one or two people into believing it’s not LEGO.

10334 Retro Radio will be available to LEGO Insiders from June 1, and everyone else from June 4, for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
