LEGO Ideas 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine revealed

The LEGO Ideas team have revealed 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine, expanding on the original project with many exclusive minifigures.

Nostalgia is at the heart of LEGO Ideas again with the 1,343-piece model, which is based on Belgium-based fan designer Rob Vangansewinkel’s Minifigure Prize Machine. His initial creation proposed nine capsules in a smaller machine, but everything proposed has been expanded to create 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine with a staggering 16 minifigures.

Those 16 minifigures cover Classic Space and Castle, as voted on by fans, debuting warm gold and bright bluish green astronauts for the former, as well as the Kraken and Griffin factions for the latter.

Aside from the four Classic Space and Castle minifigures each, there are 12 more covering Fabuland, Paradisa, Pirates and LEGO Ideas. The LEGO Ideas-specific minifigures consist of one with a new torso and a minifigure of Rob himself, acting as this set’s fan designer reference. There are 16 capsules for the minifigures, which can be realistically vended from the machine when you insert a provided coin.

“As a kid, I had a real vending machine at home and loved it, so the idea of creating a working LEGO brick version that dispenses minifigures just clicked,” shared Rob, explaining his original design.

“I started with a digital version of the model and posted it on LEGO Ideas. But I wasn’t sure if the dispensing mechanism would really work, so I spent about two months testing and refining the design with actual LEGO bricks. I even took apart my old vending machine to understand the mechanics and make it work, and I’m so proud of the final product.”

21358 Minifigure Vending Machine will cost £149.99 / $179.99 / €169.99 with 1,343 pieces (including 16 minifigures) when it launches on June 1 for LEGO Insiders or June 4 for everyone. 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine joins the 2025 LEGO Ideas line-up, and will be released on the same day as 21357 Luxo Jr.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
