LEGO Ideas Polaroid Camera contest winners revealed – including surprise bonus winner
The LEGO Ideas team has revealed the winners of its Polaroid Camera contest, including a surprise bonus winner selected by Polaroid.
Held to celebrate the launch of 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera, the LEGO Ideas challenge tasked builders with creating ‘picture perfect memories’ within a prescribed brick-built Polaroid frame. Its relatively small size opened the doors to a whopping 645 entries, which the LEGO Ideas team and partner Polaroid have now whittled down to a grand prize winner, two runners-up and a surprise fourth winner.
Taking top prize is Marinoubrick’s The Seaside Walk, which goes above and beyond the brief to capture a coastal image both inside and outside the Polaroid frame. They’ll receive a Polaroid Now Generation 2 Camera with two reels of film and a selection of five LEGO Ideas sets, including 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera, 21335 Motorised Lighthouse and 21338 A-Frame Cabin.
The first runner-up also bursts beyond the Polaroid frame in Count Snotbury’s Making a Splash, which captures a majestic humpback whale breaching the water off the coast of Iceland. Their prize is copies of 21340 Tales of the Space Age, 21342 The Insect Collection and – of course – 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera.
Also bringing home the same prize pool is the second runner-up entry, The Kyoto Garden by TangTaizong. This one is inspired by London’s Kyoto Garden but also includes elements iconic to Japan, and breaks from the rest of the winners by keeping everything within the white LEGO Polaroid frame.
Finally, the Polaroid team picked out Bricksartist’s Not in the Picture as a bonus winning entry. This four-part build is a visual interpretation of a poem penned by the builder in the contest entry’s description, and tells the story of a boy with a Polaroid camera shooting across all four seasons. Bricksartist will receive a copy of 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera for their trouble.
If this has you in the mood to try your hand at a LEGO Ideas challenge, the intake period for the platform’s Natural History Museum contest is still open for another two weeks.

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
