LEGO Insiders Weekend 6550800 Barracuda Seas reward review
Sailing into the Insiders Rewards Centre for LEGO Insiders Weekend 2024 comes 6550800 Barracuda Seas, a mini tribute to a classic LEGO Pirates set.
The LEGO Insiders loyalty program continues to explore the many ways to tug at those nostalgia heartstrings, this time in the form of an exclusive members reward launching on LEGO Insiders Weekend – 6550800 Barracuda Seas.
As a recreation of a classic LEGO Pirates set, 6285 Black Seas Barracuda from 1989, 6550800 Barracuda Seas presents a 148-piece miniaturised version complete with display stand with printed name tag (even if that name tag mysteriously doesn’t actually match the moniker of the original set).
The build is nice and the finish makes for a neat, recognisable tribute that immediately reminds you of a set that is a remarkable 35 years old in 2024. There’s no hint of future rewards to come based on other classic sets from the past, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to learn further down the line that this is the start of yet another small collection of redeemable rewards.
6550800 Barracuda Seas is redeemable at the LEGO Insiders Rewards Centre from November 23, while stocks last, for 2,400 points. That’s the amount of points earned through the LEGO loyalty program from a spend of £300, and it’s an amount of points that can otherwise be redeemed for £15 off a future LEGO.com or LEGO Store purchase.
Putting that monetary value to 6550800 Barracuda Seas means it doesn’t hold up as well as it may otherwise. It’s too high of a price right now for us to reasonably recommend as a must-have at point of launch. The only consideration otherwise is in how easy it’ll be to earn Insiders points over the LEGO Insiders Weekend, as one of the promotions will be double points on all LEGO purchases for the Nov 23 to 24 event.
6550800 Barracuda Seas launches on November 23 and is available while stocks last from LEGO.com’s LEGO Insiders Rewards Centre, redeemable for 2,400 points.
