LEGO isn’t making it easy to snag all four of its latest GWPs
Four different LEGO gifts-with-purchase are available online right now, but the LEGO Group isn’t making it easy to qualify for them all in a single order.
LEGO freebies are typically stackable even if they require spending in certain themes, and that’s still the case for three of the four different GWPs up for grabs right now (alongside 80-plus new sets). 40760 Adventure Peely & Cuddle Team Leader is free with almost all purchases above £115 / $130 / €130, while 30701 Field Flowers is free with £25 / $25 / €25 spends on Botanicals sets.
30698 Cooper’s Flying Controller Mini Build is then available with a £30 / €35 spend (it’s not showing up in the US) on LEGO DREAMZzz, City, Friends and NINJAGO sets, so a basket that totals the overall threshold for the Fortnite set and hits the individual thresholds for the two polybags (with theme-specific sets) will secure all three in one go. It’ll take a little careful planning, but it’s certainly doable.
And then there’s 40765 Kamino Training Facility, this year’s May the 4th LEGO Star Wars gift-with-purchase, which is free exclusively with 75409 Jango Fett’s Starship. So in normal circumstances, you’d be able to grab that UCS set and qualify for the Fortnite BrickHeadz in the same breath, then top up your order with other relevant sets for the polybags if you so choose.
Unfortunately, the LEGO Group has put a dampener on things by specifically excluding 75409 Jango Fett’s Starship (and 21359 Italian Riviera, when that set launches) from the list of sets that will qualify for 40760 Adventure Peely & Cuddle Team Leader.
Both excluded builds have set-specific gifts-with-purchase, but that hasn’t traditionally stopped them from qualifying for other freebies running at the same time. It’ll be interesting (in a concerning sort of way) to see whether this becomes the new norm for sets with exclusive GWPs, forcing us to spend even more if we want to collect all available freebies at LEGO.com.
