Celebrating 30 years of Jurassic Park, the sets range in size and focus on various different iconic scenes from the movie.

The dinosaurs included tick every box that any Jurassic fan will be looking for and there are plenty of details to enjoy across the two Jeeps, various scenery, and (of course) the various minifigures that come along with the sets.

Here’s a guide to our favourite visual elements from all five of the sets so far.

The most instantly notable feature of the Jurassic Park wave is the unique packaging. The product images of the sets are set at jaunty angles on the boxes, which are themselves coloured green to match the outdoor setting of the sets. There are also red marks trailing along the top and the sides of each box, presumably marking the path of a dinosaur’s claws.

It gives the boxes a more childlike feel, a stark contrast to some of the more adult collectors’ boxes, which matches the content of the sets. Plus, we’re especially enjoying that the dinosaurs have all been given their own character bubble alongside the minifigures – the real stars of the show, let’s be honest.

LEGO Jurassic Park 30th anniversary sets dinosaurs

The main event of the wave: the dinosaurs. Each set is centred around a different scene and its corresponding species of dinosaur. The older Jurassic Park sets tended to stick to brown for the colours of dinosaurs, but this wave showcases various shades of tan, beige, grey, green and brown to differentiate between the various creatures.

It means that the velociraptor certainly stands out from the similarly-sized dilophosaurus by more than just the moulded detail around the head. What’s more, the brachiosaurus stays faithful to its beloved cinematic counterpart, with moulded blue-grey elements.

Only one dinosaur is repeated within the wave as well (the raptor), so buying multiple sets won’t leave you with too many doubled-up creatures. After all, you can never have too many raptors.

LEGO Jurassic Park 30th anniversary sets minifigures

Dennis Nedry, John Hammond, and Ray Arnold have only previously appeared in 75936: Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage, so it’s great to see another chance to add the memorable characters to your collection.

Ellie appears in all but one of the sets, with the same pink-sweater minifigure design appearing in 75960 Brachiosaurus Discovery, 76959 Triceratops Research, and 76957 Velociraptor Escape. However, there is a difference in her appearance in 75961 Visitor Center: T. rex & Raptor Attack, where she’s clad in a blue tank top inside, marked with evidence of her dinosaur adventures.

Charming details are not just found among the dinosaurs and minifigures, however. There are two different types of iconic Jeep to build between. these sets, one. with a beige brick-built canvas effect and one with a more open rear seating area. Every set also comes with some sort of brick-built greenery, to set the models squarely within the world of Jurassic Park.

A particular stand-out is the brachiosaurus’ tree, made to scale with the dinosaur, so you can pose the creature as if it was using its long moulded neck to chow down on some tasty LEGO leaves.

There’s also an impressive amount of detail in 75961 Visitor Center: T. rex & Raptor Attack, with lots to notice both on the exterior and the interior, depending on how you display the completed set. Looking at the exterior in particular, the Jurassic Park branding and imagery drives home the nostalgia that is an absolute must for anniversary sets like these.

The most notable new element that we’ve spotted is, of course, the brachiosaurus, with its articulated neck that looks like it can be moved to some degree for the display purpose you want. Its head also includes the unique moulded crown on the top of its hard, as well as a jaw that opens (for the aforementioned leaf-munching).

On top of that, the printed Jurassic Park tile that’s included in 76957 Velociraptor Escape has only appeared in one set previously, 76939 Stygimoloch Dinosaur Escape. For any passionate Jurassic Park fans, this is a far cheaper way to get your hands on the tile – as well as an updated version of the velociraptor to boot.

75961 Visitor Center: T. rex & Raptor Attack is available to pre-order from today, while the rest of the LEGO Jurassic Park 30th anniversary sets will be available to buy from June 1, 2023.
