LEGO Jurassic Park Triceratops skeleton revealed

This weekend’s LEGO Jurassic World reveals continue, now with another massive model in the form of the teased Triceratops skeleton.

The LEGO Group’s Instagram page strikes once more, posting a video for the new 77985 Dinosaur Fossils: Triceratops. It follows in the footsteps of 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex as our second full skeleton set, but with fewer pieces.

At 1,154 pieces, 77985 Dinosaur Fossils: Triceratops has a smaller piece count than 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex at 3,145 pieces, but isn’t lacking in detail. Various small pieces are used to capture the finer details of the skeleton as accurately as you would expect. The post model sits on a decorated display stand with an accompanying gold plaque.

There’s even an included minifigure of the Chief Veterinarian of Jurassic Park, Gerry Harding. The minifigure has a new face print, printed hips and an appealing cap decoration. The character appeared in a scene with a sick Triceratops in the original movie, and this model is a fitting location for him.

77985 Dinosaur Fossils: Triceratops isn’t as direct an expansion of 76969 Dinosaur Fossils: Triceratops Skull as the last skeleton model. The new set scales down the skull significantly. Note that both of these sets include rare appearances of Jurassic Park-branded clothing for minifigures, which is an odd but fun coincidence.

We don’t yet know when 77985 Dinosaur Fossils: Triceratops will be released, and the model has yet to appear on LEGO.com. Pricing is also not known, but rumours had it at $99.99 / €99.99. Take all unconfirmed information with caution until we find out more.

This reveal follows a similar post for 77984 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler, which featured a teaser for this skeleton model. Earlier today, the social media page also revealed more LEGO Jurassic World builds. Here’s a look at everything confirmed and rumoured for the theme this year.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
