LEGO Jurassic Park’s new minifigures are one-of-a-kind

There are new minifigures in LEGO Jurassic Park 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex and they’re not for fans of the franchise to overlook.

With the grand reveal of the massive 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex, you might have been focusing on the model more than those two new minifigures, but following the reveal, you might want to take a closer look at them.

The two exclusive minifigures of Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler in 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex aren’t just new versions of these iconic characters, but their outfits are specifically based on the Montana dig site scene that opens the first film.

The red sand and rock elements that are part of the nameplate where these minifigures can be placed also seem to be referencing this scene, which has otherwise not often been acknowledged much by the LEGO Group – and for good reason.

As iconic as this scene is, the dig site isn’t exactly rife with set potential and there are no dinosaurs to add some action to any such models, aside from the dead ones being dug up. Its only place would be in a fossil model and the two new minifigures work well in 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex with more than enough budget to accommodate them.

Outside of LEGO sets, the dig site received a level in the LEGO Jurassic Park video game with other takes on Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler in their earlier outfits.

The fact that 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex has allowed the LEGO Group the opportunity to depict these minifigures is still notable though. You’ll be able to pick both exclusive minifigures in the latest Jurassic Park set starting from March 15 or March 12 for LEGO Insiders for £219.99 in the UK, $249.99 in the US and €249.99 in Europe.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.

I like the figs but the build looks too repetitive and a Ball-ache to angle the pieces correctly, I’m not patient enough for that.
