LEGO launches custom comic creator for SDCC 2021
We may not be getting any exclusive LEGO sets or minifigures for San Diego Comic-Con 2021, but the LEGO Group is still marking the event with the relaunch of its custom comic creator.
The online tool was originally designed for 2020’s Comic-Con@Home event, and offers the opportunity to place yourself into either a Star Wars, Spider-Man or Batman-themed comic book by way of a personalised minifigure avatar.
It’s essentially a digital version of a physical experience that was available to try out at SDCC in 2019, back when people still did things like gathering for huge, in-person events. This is the second year in a row that the convention has been purely online, though, giving the LEGO Group the chance to recycle the virtual experience.
Just like last year, the comics created using the tool don’t necessarily need to stay digital if you’re in the US, Canada or Mexico, as the first 10,000 people to create theirs will receive a printed copy. Everyone else will be sent a PDF version of their bespoke comic book.
Head here to create your own LEGO Star Wars, Batman or Spider-Man comic book, and keep an eye out across the weekend for more SDCC-related news from the LEGO Group.

Author Profile
- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
