The online tool was originally designed for 2020’s [email protected] event, and offers the opportunity to place yourself into either a Star Wars, Spider-Man or Batman-themed comic book by way of a personalised minifigure avatar.
It’s essentially a digital version of a physical experience that was available to try out at SDCC in 2019, back when people still did things like gathering for huge, in-person events. This is the second year in a row that the convention has been purely online, though, giving the LEGO Group the chance to recycle the virtual experience.
Just like last year, the comics created using the tool don’t necessarily need to stay digital if you’re in the US, Canada or Mexico, as the first 10,000 people to create theirs will receive a printed copy. Everyone else will be sent a PDF version of their bespoke comic book.
