LEGO The Lord of The Rings: The Shire gets rumoured GWP
Hot on the heels of our first look at the upcoming LEGO The Lord of the Rings set, we’ve got rumoured details of its accompanying GWP.
The two modern LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets we’ve had so far have both come with their own gifts-with purchase, with early orders of 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell coming with a free copy of LEGO BrickHeadz 40630 Frodo & Gollum and 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr getting an exclusive GWP in the form of 40693 The Lord of the Rings: Fell Beast.
As well as getting our first look at 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire thanks to a designer signing page, the usually reliable Clay Bricks has shared rumours via LSWSA on reddit, suggesting that the brick-built Shire will come with 40761 Sméagol and Déagol in a 181-piece set. From the name, we can guess that this will include minifigures of both hobbits, telling the tragic story that precedes the tale of The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
For those who don’t know, Sméagol and Déagol are two hobbits who, while fishing in the River Anduin near the Gladden Fields, found the Ring where it had been lost by Isildur. When Déagol brought it out of the water, Sméagol was also seized with longing for it and the two hobbits fought for the possession of the Ring. Sméagol ultimately kills Déagol – and becomes the creature Gollum that we know from the core plot.

40761 Sméagol and Déagol therefore expands the scope of 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire, illuminating more than just the Shire and the timeline of the LOTR trilogy. It will likely include both characters as minifigures, perhaps situated in a boat – and also offering a way to include the One Ring in a set, if it’s not already included in 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire.
There’s no confirmed release date for the LEGO The Lord of the Rings set or the GWP just yet but as the designer signings will take place on April 5, that suggests that a reveal is just around the corner – but that’s only speculation on our part.
