There’s plenty of fun to be had with 76275 Motorcycle Chase: Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock, the latest pocket money-priced LEGO Marvel set.

The smallest of the LEGO Marvel wave of models released on January 1, 2024, 76275 Motorcycle Chase: Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock is certainly a mouthful of a name for what is essentially a basic set aimed at younger fans of the MCU.

The build includes a simple motorcycle and lamppost to construct, as well as minifigures of Spider-Man and a Venomised version of Doctor Octopus. Rounding out the LEGO Marvel set are a selection of fun accessories that can be used with both characters during superheroic play sessions.

As there are only 77 pieces included with 76275 Motorcycle Chase: Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock, the LEGO Marvel model is certainly quick to build. The two-wheeled vehicle is decked out in Spidey’s trademark red and blue colours, with two chunky tyres allowing it to stand up when parked and a pair of stud shooters on either side.

There are also a couple of round plate with hollow stud and bar pieces for handlebars, although it can be a little tricky to actually get a minifigure to grip on to them while sat in the bike’s seat. The motorcycle is completed with a unique printed windshield element that features the wall-crawler’s signature webbing and spider emblem.

76275 Motorcycle Chase: Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock also comes with a fun additional build in the shape of a New York City lamppost. This consists of a round baseplate with a simple streetlight for minifigures to grab on to, plus a rubbish bin that can be loaded up with a selection of accessories that form part of the LEGO Marvel set.

The package is rounded out by a large bone, a fish, a banana skin, a bottle, dynamite, a selection of diamond pieces and two web shooters. These elements allow for a wide range of play options, such as setting up Spidey to chase down his nemesis after a bank heist or Doctor Octopus pursing the web-slinger while armed with explosives.

It’s exactly those kinds of scenarios that 76275 Motorcycle Chase: Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock was designed for, allowing younger LEGO Marvel fans to create their own battle scenes and pick up the small set at a pocket money price. Despite only including a handful of pieces, there’s still plenty to enjoy with the build, one that delivers exactly what you’re expecting from such a basic model.

76275 Motorcycle Chase: Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock includes two minifigures and there are no prizes for guessing who they are. The Spider-Man minifigure has been included in 10 previous LEGO Marvel sets to date, with no changes made to his red and blue outfit this time around. The character’s head and torso feature double-sided printing, with printed arms rounding out the look of Peter Parker’s alter ego.

Of more interest is the exclusive (for now) version of the villainous Doctor Octopus. This new Venomised take on the character boasts unique double-sided head and torso prints, although the back of Doc Ock is covered by the harness for his four flexible tentacles, as well as one black arm to represent the symbiote’s possession of Otto Octavius.

The impressive dual-natured minifigure can be put to plenty of good use with the LEGO Marvel set, having the ability to grab on to the motorcycle and lamppost builds, plus hold any of the included accessories in his hands or mechanical claws.

While it’s sometimes a little tricky to sit a minifigure in the motorcycle’s seat and grab the handlebars, it’s hard to find fault with 76275 Motorcycle Chase: Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock. While the LEGO Marvel set might seem fairly basic to some, there’s plenty of play value packed into the box.
