LEGO NINJAGO summer 2024 mech isn’t the new normal
This summer’s new LEGO NINJAGO mech may be an oddity in the theme for the foreseeable future as a designer has explained.
Of the LEGO NINJAGO summer 2024 sets, 71821 Cole’s Titan Dragon Mech is debuting as the biggest mech in LEGO NINJAGO and an undoubtedly ambitious model for the theme. Despite the many posing options and the detailed appearance of the 1,055-piece mech, you probably shouldn’t expect this model to be the new normal.
After explaining why only one minifigure is included in 71821 Cole’s Titan Dragon Mech, concept designer Niek van Slagmaat has explained on X (formerly Twitter) that this set is a specific entry into the theme and will not be the new standard for mechs to come.
71821 Cole’s Titan Dragon Mech is labelled as being suitable for ages 12 and up while other LEGO NINJAGO mechs range between being suitable for ages four to nine, depending on the size and complexity.
As explained by Slagmaat, this is a unique entry into LEGO NINJAGO and you shouldn’t expect all future LEGO NINJAGO mechs to be overtly similar to 71821 Cole’s Titan Dragon Mech. Whether there could be more LEGO NINJAGO mechs in the 12 and up age range in the future is unknown, but the possibility appears to be on the table.
At least we can look forward to 71821 Cole’s Titan Dragon Mech‘s launch in a couple of weeks on June 1, or August 1 for the US. You can take a look at how the set compares to other massive mechs in the theme by clicking here.
