A LEGO One Piece set needs to be your next Castle purchase

LEGO castles have become hot-ticket items over the past few years, and we never expected One Piece to have one of the best fortresses on shelves.

75645 Battle at Drum Castle is one of the latest LEGO One Piece sets and it launches later this summer. It joins the portfolio at the perfect time, when interest in the theme is high after a stellar first year of sets and when LEGO Castle fans are demanding more models to go with the beloved line. Rest assured, 75645 Battle at Drum Castle is going to please both groups of enthusiasts.

At 1,038 pieces and 35cm tall, 75645 Battle at Drum Castle is a considerably huge fortress with an inner courtyard and a full set of walls, except for the facade interior. Such facade designs are becoming common in LEGO Castles outside the BrickLink Designer Program, and the castle is otherwise complete.

The model is teeming with details from the brickwork to how the snow droops down, and fans of the classic theme are going to find much to adore in this build. Its grandiose silhouette and unique architectural details feel both grounded in reality and suitably outlandish for the One Piece universe. You can even open the build up to access the inner courtyard.

Spin the castle around, and you’ll see a fully-furnished three-storey building with some specific references to the live-action series, but not so many that it can’t be used as a generic Castle interior. There’s a throne room, a hospital room with lab equipment, and a cosy bed, as well as a basement with a hippo-shaped fireplace. We like to think that is a reference to Robson, but either way the build is incredible.

This interior offers ample opportunities for play and room to pose minifigures, and there’s simply nothing to fault. Overall, the design of LEGO Drum Castle is nothing short of fantastic for both One Piece and Castle fans alike. 

The minifigures are going to be solely for the One Piece crowd, but each one of them is exclusive in some way. Luffy, Sanji, and Nami are the Straw Hat members in the set, each with an exclusive outfit. These new prints are going to be useful for minifigures beyond One Piece, and Sanji’s torso even has some stylish arm printing.

Chopper is another Straw Hat member, though he isn’t one yet during this set’s scene, and the new figure type is great with more than enough moving parts that don’t look too out of scale with one another.

Vivi and Wapol are your exclusive minifigures in 75645 Battle at Drum Castle, and Wapol is by far the most interesting. This minifigure has an amazing torso print for use in Castle minifigures, exclusive headwear, a textured cape and multiple accessories to match his Devil Fruit power.

Note that the dossier tiles are random in each set, and you may not receive Vivi's poster in 75645 Battle at Drum Castle.

With the minifigures and the huge castle combined, the asking price of £89.99 / $109.99 / €99.99 is more than fair for 75645 Battle at Drum Castle. It’s easily one of the greatest LEGO One Piece sets launching this year and nothing short of a must-have for both Castle and One Piece enthusiasts.
