Rare LEGO Peter Jackson minifigure has a $15,000 bid
The incredibly rare LEGO Peter Jackson minifigure revealed by a former LEGO designer earlier this week has already drawn a $15,000 bid.
Marcos Bessa (who left the LEGO Group earlier this year) shared images of a never-before-seen Peter Jackson minifigure to his Instagram story yesterday while going through items he gathered while working at the LEGO Group to put them on his BrickLink store.
Don’t expect the LEGO The Lord of the Rings minifigure, which is one of only 20, to go up on BrickLink, though. Bidding on the minifigure has started over on Instagram, with someone already putting down a staggering $15,000 bid on the incredibly rare LEGO minifigure.
Those with deep pockets can reach out to the former LEGO designer on Instagram in an attempt to add the minifigure to their collection, but at $15,000 to beat, you might be better off with the Peter Jackson cameo minifigure from 79008 Pirate Ship Ambush, which is only around £15 on BrickLink.
Assuming that the $15,000 bid is legitimate, the Peter Jackson minifigure has already become one of the most valuable LEGO minifigures on the secondary market of all time. This minifigure is only one of 20 and was never considered for sale, explaining why it’s so desirable to LEGO collectors, not that many will be able to afford a bid.
Bidding is open for 24 hours, or until June 25 at 6pm CET, with worldwide shipping and no returns possible. All bids will be private, but $15,000 is the baseline. Alternatively, you can buy every current LEGO The Lord of the Rings set for a fraction of that cost, including the recent 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire.
