LEGO Pirates 10320 Eldorado Fortress rumoured for 2023

A 2,500-piece remake of the classic LEGO Pirates 6276 Eldorado Fortress is said to be launching under the LEGO Icons banner in 2023.

While LEGO Castle and LEGO Space both got their moment in the spotlight in 2022 for the LEGO Group’s 90th anniversary (in 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle and 10497 Galaxy Explorer respectively), LEGO Pirates has been dormant since 2020’s 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay left shelves. That’s apparently all about to change, however.

As reported by Instagram user 1414falconfan (via reddit user FluffySky6), this summer’s LEGO Icons line-up is said to include 10320 Eldorado Fortress, a remake of the iconic 1989 LEGO Pirates set. That tracks with a previous rumour from lego_insider_news, who reported back in March that the swashbuckling LEGO theme would return in summer 2023.

The original 6276 Eldorado Fortress includes just 506 pieces, but this version is now reported to consist of a whopping 2,503 elements (six fewer than previously rumoured). That’s comparable to 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay’s 2,545 pieces, suggesting we’re in for something that will sit very nicely with the LEGO Ideas set.

Those initial rumours around 10320 claimed the set will be priced at $214.99 in the US, which is only $20 more than Barracuda Bay. There’s no word yet on whether any of 10320 Eldorado Fortress’s budget will go towards a ship for the Bluecoats, nor how many minifigures it might include, but you can bet that its raised baseplate will be recreated in bricks.

That’s if this rumour is true, of course – and until we get confirmation from the LEGO Group, best to assume it’s not. (Lower your expectations and you’ll never be disappointed, so they say.) We hopefully won’t have to wait too long to find out either way, as 10320 Eldorado Fortress is rumoured to launch in July 2023. I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
