LEGO reveals the name of what’s likely to be the final microscale shop GWP

The LEGO building instructions portal has revealed the name of what appears to be the fourth and final set in the current series of microscale shop gifts-with-purchase.

40680 Flower Store, 40684 Fruit Store and 40692 Candy Store debuted at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores in March, April and July respectively, which leaves just one microscale shop in the sequence left to go. A new listing for 40696 Bakery has now popped up on the building instructions portal, seemingly confirming the last gift-with-purchase we can expect in the series.

The timing suggests it could be right around the corner too, although there is of course no way of knowing yet if this really is a microscale shop, because the listing has no images attached to it. But these building instructions pages generally tend to precede a full LEGO.com listing by a matter of hours or days, so we probably won’t be waiting too long to find out either way.

If 40696 Bakery is part of this series – which is a successor to last year’s Houses of the World gifts-with-purchase – it will likely require a spend of around £180 / $200 / €200, in line with previous sets. Keep an eye on Brick Fanatics for confirmation (and a full reveal) as soon as we get it.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
