LEGO shares a selection of fan-made shorts for 25th anniversary film festival

The LEGO Star Wars team has released an early selection of 25-second shorts made by fans for the 25th anniversary film festival.

The LEGO Group’s official YouTube channel is playing host to a four-minute-long video featuring a selection of 25-second shorts already submitted to the film festival. In honour of the LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary this year, the LEGO Group has called on fans to submit 25-second short films. The landing page offers inspiration for what to create but it’s also well worth looking at what some fans have already shared with the world.

Some of the clips selected by the LEGO Star Wars team include Artoo going on a night out in a club on board the Tantive IV by Dan Richards and A+C Studios, a comical play on how the Rebels could have fended off the Stormtroopers by Matt King, and much more.

See more of the early selections in the video below. Remember that there’s still time to get your entry into the LEGO Star Wars film festival, with submissions open until April 22 to submit your 25-second film. The LEGO Star Wars team will continue to curate a mix of clips for the final film festival, which will premiere on May 4, 2024. If your film is chosen, you’ll see it featured on the official LEGO YouTube channel between May 4 and 25.

There are no other prizes or winners – the LEGO Group stresses it isn’t a competition – but every entrant will gain access to exclusive rewards just for throwing their film into the ring, including LEGO Star Wars 25-Second Film Festival Poster and Wallpaper; exclusive LEGO Star Wars minifigure sheets; the official LEGO Star Wars 25-Second Film Festival Laurel; and (the only brick-based reward) instructions to build an exclusive LEGO Star Wars C-3PO.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
