LEGO Speed Champions sets to receive another UK price increase in 2025
The LEGO Group has quietly raised the prices of individual LEGO Speed Champions cars in the UK for 2025, marking the fourth such price increase in five years.
When the LEGO Speed Champions theme increased the scale of its cars from six studs wide to eight studs wide in 2020, the prices of its sets jumped to match: individual cars that had previously retailed for £12.99 / $14.99 / €14.99 now cost £17.99 / $19.99 / €19.99 apiece. But that was a relatively easy pill to swallow for the level of detail, scale and size of the cars the sets now offered.
Fast forward to 2022, and the LEGO Group bumped up the prices of its Speed Champions cars again, which now started at £19.99 / €24.99 each (the US price held fast for a year before increasing to $24.99 in 2023). That was amidst spiralling inflation and company-wide price increases, so while it stung, you could convince yourself it was acceptable within the context of everything else going on in the world. But two years later, prices increased yet again to £20.99 / $26.99 / €26.99 per single LEGO Speed Champions car.

The US and EU prices will remain as such for 2025’s range, which the LEGO Group unveiled at the Las Vegas Grand Prix yesterday. But in the UK, we’re looking at another £2 price increase per car, bringing each one up to £22.99. Across the full wave of 10 Formula 1 cars, that’s an extra £20 – or the cost of an entire extra set just two or three years ago.
It also means the price of these cars has increased in the UK by 28% since 2020. But if that feels too much to stomach, consider this: according to the Bank of England’s inflation calculator, £18 in 2020 is worth £22.35 today, so this latest price bump is actually in line with inflation over the past five years. Of course, that’s not the full picture – wages haven’t increased at the same pace as the cost of goods, for one thing.
Either way, if you want a complete collection of LEGO Speed Champions Formula 1 cars on day one (that day being March 1, 2025), you’re going to need to spend £229.90 in the UK. If that price does feel agreeable, you can pre-order yours from LEGO.com right now. Yet history tells us these will be discounted eventually – several of this year’s sets have dropped as low as £13.99 through third-party retailers, for example.
