LEGO Star Wars’ 25th anniversary has officially begun

The 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars has officially begun as March 1 marks the start of the many celebrations for this monumental occasion.

It’s not common for a LEGO theme to last more than two decades but LEGO Star Wars has undeniably become an iconic part of the yearly portfolio. While the theme turns 25 on April 1 specifically, the first of many events and happenings for the anniversary has just landed online and in stores.

As well as the debut of LEGO Animal Crossing, new gifts-with-purchase and other fresh sets, March 2024 is the first month of the 25th-anniversary celebrations for LEGO Star Wars. Here’s what you can expect immediately.

New sets

Five new LEGO Star Wars sets are now available online and in stores. Whether you prefer midi-scale starship models, downscaled droids or a diorama of an iconic Star Wars scene that has never been depicted in a set, there’s likely to be something for everyone.

Unique minifigures

Both 75387 Boarding the Tantive IV and 75379 R2-D2 include the first two of six unique LEGO Star Wars 25th-anniversary minifigures, depicting Darth Malak and ARC Trooper Fives respectively.

These are two characters that would almost certainly never be included in a LEGO set for any occasion other than the 25th anniversary of the theme. They’re currently exclusive to each of the two sets and four more are confirmed for later this year, likely exclusive to one set each.

A film festival with prizes

Also starting today is a new LEGO Star Wars 25-second film festival. You can find out more on the official online store and read through the rules. Everyone who enters and has their film approved will receive a code for some enticing prizes.

LEGO Insiders who enter the festival and have their entry approved can score four rewards including instructions for a C-3PO model, a laurel, a poster and minifigure sheets to download.

It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
